Wigan Warriors give generous donation to EPiC HOPE

A powerful step in supporting suicide prevention

Our team at EPiC HOPE had an incredible evening at the Warriors v Leopards game on Thursday, 13th February. EPiC HOPE were honoured to be part of the event, where Wigan Warriors presented us with an incredible £5,000 donation towards supporting suicide prevention in our borough.

This generous contribution will go directly towards our vital work in making the Wigan Borough a suicide-safer place. Every penny will help us provide immediate, life-saving support to those in crisis, ensuring they have somewhere safe to turn when they need it most.

Last month alone, EPiC HOPE saved 17 lives. These are 17 people who found a safe space, a listening ear, and the support they desperately needed at a critical moment. This work is only possible through the dedication of our team, the generosity of our supporters, and the strength of our community standing together to tackle the issue of suicide.

One of the key ways we provide crisis support is through our Crisis Harbour in Atherton. This welcoming, non-clinical space offers a vital alternative to A&E, allowing individuals in distress to access immediate help without judgment or barriers. The Crisis Harbour is open at the following times:

Thursday: 3pm – 11pm
Friday: 3pm – 11pm
Saturday: 12 noon – 6pm
Sunday: 3pm – 11pm
Monday 4pm-11pm

Located at 6-8 George St, Atherton, Manchester M46 0EL, the Crisis Harbour provides peer support, safety planning, and practical assistance, helping individuals navigate through crisis moments and find hope for the future.

The support from Wigan Warriors goes beyond financial aid; it highlights the importance of working together as a community to break the stigma around mental health and suicide. When one of rugby league’s biggest clubs stands with us, it sends a powerful message that no one should face crisis alone.
