Project Bridge Aid

Project Bridge Aid

In the North West of England, more lives are lost to suicide than anywhere else in the country. Motorway bridges have become places where people in crisis often go, and the heartbreak and impact touches entire communities; families, friends, frontline workers, and passing drivers. At EPiC HOPE, we refuse to look away. That’s why we’ve launched Project Bridge Aid, a focused new outreach, sending our Mobile Suicide Prevention Harbours directly to motorway bridges, showing up for people at the most critical moments.

Why Project bridge aid?

Our Mobile Suicide Prevention Harbours are already a familiar sight across Wigan, Leigh, Greater Manchester and the Fylde Coast, welcoming people at football matches, in neighbourhoods, and supporting many organisations and businesses who call on us. These vans are known as safe spaces where you can talk, be heard, and get support when it matters most.

Project Bridge Aid builds on that trust and experience. Now, we’re taking our vans, and our trained volunteers, specifically to motorway bridges. We’re there for anyone who might be struggling with thoughts of suicide, or planning to take their life, offering a compassionate presence and immediate help. We don’t wait for people to find us. We go to them, exactly where help is needed most.

Who are we?

We’re neighbours, friends, colleagues, ordinary people with the training and heart to do something extraordinary. Every volunteer and/or staff member at EPiC HOPE is trained in First Aid and the highest level of Suicide First Aid, ready to face tough nights and days together. We’re not therapists or superheroes. We’re just willing to show up and listen, and more than you know, a lot of the time, that’s enough to save a life.

Why we need you

This work is tough, but it’s vital. We ask our volunteers for just one evening a month. You’ll get top-level training, support, and you’ll be part of a team that looks after each other as much as we look after those in crisis.

If you want to make a real difference, if you want to be the reason someone chooses to keep going, join us. Project Bridge Aid is more than an initiative. It’s a promise that no one has to face their worst moments alone.
