Fund crisis support signs on motorway and railway bridges

Fund signs with local crisis support info and helplines on motorway and railway bridges. Work with relevant campaigns and organisations to ensure signs are safe, effective, and help people in crisis find local, face to face support.

WE CARE ABOUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Here at EPiC HOPE, we are driven to do our part in making the world a better place. Since 2022, we have been planning a way that we can drive real change for suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

EVERY 7 DAYS SOMEONE IN WIGAN DIES BY SUICIDE.

YOU CAN BE THE REASON SOMEONE CHOOSES TO STAY.

The EPiC 50 is our annual community campaign, running from September to March every year. Starting with the EPiC 50km walk, it unites people in a shared mission to raise £50,000 for life saving suicide prevention and crisis support.

It’s simple. Choose your 50 and make it EPiC.
You could walk 50 miles, run 50 laps, cycle 50km, row 50km at the gym, bake 50 cakes, sell 50 handmade items, or complete 50 acts of kindness. You could even plant 50 seeds, write 50 thank-you notes, or share 50 hopeful messages online. Whatever your “50” looks like, every action helps bring hope to someone who needs it most.

This is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a movement of strength, unity and hope. Your small actions can do something truly life saving for someone who is suicidal.

✅ Take part your way – solo, with friends, family, schools, or workplaces
✅ Every pound raised supports EPiC HOPE’s life saving services
✅ Every “50” completed helps prevent another life from being shattered

Join the movement. Be EPiC. Bring hope. 💜

Miles for may ~ Move for Hope

31 Miles. 31 days. One Powerful Purpose.

This May, we’re asking you to move.

Not for fitness.
Not for steps.
But for lives.

What is Miles for may?

Miles for May is a national movement led by EPiC HOPE.

We’re inviting people to complete 31 miles across the 31 days of May, in any way that works for them, while raising vital funds to support suicide prevention.

Walk it. Run it. Wheel it. Cycle it.
Your miles. Your way.

Why it matters?

Every day, people reach breaking point.

At EPiC HOPE, all over the North West of England, we meet people in those moments in our Crisis Harbours, on bridges, and in the darkest hours.

We provide immediate, barrier-free, non-clinical support from people who understand.

Your miles help us be there.

The home of positive energy

WE DO SUPPORT

EPiC HOPE is dedicated to creating supportive communities where mental health is a shared responsibility. Our Harbours, located throughout Wigan and Leigh, are more than safe spaces; they are active centres for connection. Recognising the urgency in areas with increased suicide rates, we also take our efforts directly into the community, ensuring no one is overlooked.

Our resources are readily available for everyone. Whether you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts, or want to help someone who is. With our straightforward, free materials, you can learn to detect distress and offer meaningful support, guiding yourself or others towards appropriate care.

Access these tools online or pick them up at your nearest EPiC HOPE Harbour. By equipping ourselves with knowledge and compassion, we can all contribute to a mentally healthier and suicide safer community.

creating suicide safer communities

We do this by identifying and supporting those in crisis, nurturing an inclusive environment of compassion where every person can share, connect, and find hope and healing, without stigma.

We are dedicated to empowering community members with the skills to save lives and to building a network of understanding and resources that assists anyone touched by suicide.

A future where we recognise our value.

Our vision is a future where every person in our boroughs recognises their inherent value and feels a steadfast sense of hope and connection.

We strive to establish a compassionate society where the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide is eradicated, and open conversations and support systems are the norm, leading to a zero-suicide reality.

We are committed to equipping individuals, communities, and institutions with the resources, education, and support needed to prevent suicide and to nurture strength, understanding, and the preservation of life at every opportunity.

We value life. Everybody’s life.

Our core values are rooted in compassion, connection, and courage. We believe in the power of empathy to understand and support those in pain. We value the strength of community and the importance of building meaningful connections to combat isolation. We champion the courage it takes to reach out, to speak openly about struggles, and to stand together in the face of adversity. Education, respect, and inclusivity guide our actions as we strive to create communities where every life is valued and every cry for help is heard and answered.

“All our stories are different, but one thing is the same... WE MATTER”

Ellie Palma-Cass, Founder
