Our Commitment to Mental Wellbeing in the Workplace

At EPiC HOPE, mental health is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission to create a suicide-safer region isn’t just about supporting people in crisis, it’s also about promoting mental wellbeing in all areas of life, including our own workplace. That’s why we are proud to announce that EPiC HOPE is now officially a Mindful Employer, a step that reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive working environment for our staff and volunteers.

What Does It Mean to Be a Mindful Employer?
Becoming a Mindful Employer means we’ve joined a growing network of organisations committed to improving mental health in the workplace. The Mindful Employer charter encourages businesses to provide better support to employees experiencing mental health challenges, reduce stigma, and create an open, understanding workplace culture.

For us, this commitment isn’t just a tick-box exercise, it’s an opportunity to lead by example and show that mental wellbeing matters at every level of an organisation.

Why We Took This Step
Working in mental health support can be emotionally demanding. Our team hears difficult stories and supports people through some of the hardest moments of their lives. That’s why it’s vital that we also prioritise our own wellbeing, ensuring our staff and volunteers have the support they need to thrive, both personally and professionally.

By becoming a Mindful Employer, we’re formalising our commitment to:

  • Open communication about mental health
  • Providing mental health training for staff
  • Creating a supportive, stigma-free workplace
  • Offering access to resources and support for those in need

This step builds on our core values, and we believe that by supporting our own people, we can better support our wider community.

Leading by Example
EPiC HOPE has always believed in leading by example. By becoming a Mindful Employer, we hope to inspire other local businesses and organisations to take mental health in the workplace seriously.

The stigma surrounding mental health in professional settings still exists, and many people feel unable to speak up when they’re struggling. We want to be part of the change that makes workplaces safer, more inclusive spaces where people can seek help without fear of being judged.

By becoming a Mindful Employer, we’re reinforcing our message that mental health is everyone’s responsibility, and that by working together, we can create communities and workplaces where hope, compassion, and support are at the forefront.
